Many folks out there underestimate the importance of staying hydrated, especially in the summer it’s even more important. Now, even though I live in Iceland this current summer has been quite warm in the evening when trying to sleep – very uncomfortable, we all know that feeling! And in the morning I really do feel that my body is crying out for water, as a general rule I always have 1 big glass of water when I wake up in the morning to kick start my day, by doing so this will hydrate you, boost your metabolism and flush out any nasty toxins.
There is so much information out there about how much water intake is actually required, some say 2.5-3 liters a day. I personally drink 2.5 liters a day minimum and this has always been my daily goal for many years, if I have drunk anything less then I will be feel it straight away.
More recently, it has become very popular to infuse water to gain extra benefits to ensure you meet your daily water intake goals, to make it more exciting for some and of course can give the water a better taste. Read on to find get some top tips for staying hydrated.
Lemon Water: This one is a great one for everyone, popping a few slices of lemon into your water bottle will do you wonders, benefits include: boost immune system, assist digestion, clear skin and vitamin C boost.
Berry Water: This is probably my favourite for the flavour factor, all kinds of berries can be used here and the benefits are endless: anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-disease and all berries are superfoods.
Mint Water: Mmmm, mint water is so refreshing and tasty and the benefits are even better! Mint is one of the best antioxidants there for holds the key for many health benefits, research has also shown that the mint is very helpful in assisting nursing mothers in pain relief and nipple damage and my favourite way to use mint infused water for common cold busting.
Orange Water: Okay this one is perfect for curing a sweet tooth or warding off hunger pines. The benefits of course are very obvious here, oranges are packed with all the vitamins you could want and need!
