Açaí Bowl Breakfast

What a better way to start 2018 then with a healthy breakfast? I LOVE Acai Bowls, (pronounced ”ahh-sigh-eee”) These instagram famous bowls are packed full of nutrition and of course the main event is the Acai Powder – this superfood certainly has a name for itself with many health promoting benefits:

SUPER antioxidant 

BOOST immune system and promotes healthy digestion
ENERGY levels increased


There is a price tag that comes with Acai powder, but in my opinion it’s worth it, and just a small bag will last you some time since 1-2 tsp goes a long way, you can use in water, juice, smooths and of course Acai Bowls! Here is my favourite brand that is widely available in Reykjavík, Iceland.

I like to make one of these maybe once a week, best on the weekend so it’s a like a ”treat” breakfast, you can use your imagination with the ingredients and toppings but the primary base of the Acai Bowl is a frozen berry base with the powder incorporated, topped with fresh/dried fruits, seeds, nuts and anything else you can think of. A simple hashtag search on Instagram will lead you to thousands of inspiration. #ACAIBOWL

Here is my recipe for my most recent Acai Bowl

Frozen Berry Mix 1/2 cup
Fresh Banana 1/2
Fresh Avocado 1
Fresh Dates 2
Almond Milk 1 cup
Acai Powder 2 tsp

Whiz together in powerful blender, pour into bowl and top as desired, I used:

Dried Blueberries
Coconut flakes
Chia Seeds
1/2 Banana
Cacao Nibs
